Velez Times aims to inform students online on the current events of Cebu Velez College and also give out announcements which are needed to be disseminated by the school.

So who are we looking for?

1. Writers
-3 open
-We need anyone with experience in the writing field, at least one year experience, fluent in English, excellent Grammar Skills, willing to follow rules, and willing to commit.

2.Photographers
-2 open
-No need for them big DLSRs with all those fancy lenses which are far more expensive than our tuition fees. If you have a DSLR then good, but if you don't then it's okay as long as you have camera. (please, camera phones only if in desperate times...)

3.Graphic Artists, or well, artists
-1 open
-Got some work of art that can help beautify the site? Then sign up.

4.Web Designers or Webmasters
-1 open
-I know we're all in the medical field, but somewhere out there, there's bound to be someone who is able to comprehend the XHTML language and basic HTML codes. Care to share your knowledge?

Requirements:
1.A resume with the following:
-Name
-Course, year, and section
-Position for VT
-Previous experiences, or awards in relation to position applied for
-A 5 sentence answer to the question: "Why am I qualified to be a VT Blogger?"

2.Extra requirements:
-For Writers: Make an essay (minimum of 100 words) on why you chose Cebu Velez College
-For Photographers: 5 sample shots, NOT EDITED, preferably in RAW format.
-For Graphic Artists or Artists: 1 Sample work
-For Webmasters: 1 website or blog maintained by you

Once more the sun has risen to welcome a new day. But this was not just any day. This was the day which some happily welcomed while some horribly dreaded. This was the first day for Cebu Velez College.
And so the first day came. A lot of us from the higher years felt that the summer was too short and we needed an extension (ahem, calling AH1N1...), while the freshmen were excited for the first day of school.


New friends.
New faces.
New environment.
New chix(tsk tsk tsk...)
New teachers
and new chance to prove yourself.

Those are the new things one experiences as a freshmen.

I was once a freshmen myself and I totally understand how it feels. Correct me if I am wrong but these are the common few that one can observe amongst freshmen.

1.The Casual attire that everyone puts so much effort to give a good first impression
(I saw one wearing a suit, and another wearing a dress)
2.People will crowd in one spot as if they were playing "the boat is sinking"
3.You can identify different schools according to what group you are in.
(this year I see a lot of hearters)
4.There are some who wear uniform in the first day and realize that you don't have to so they change the next day.
5.Freshmen are so eager to greet their friends from the higher years and they feel good that they see familiar faces.
6.Freshmen are still afraid to move around for fear of being noticed in a bad way
7.Freshmen are always too early for class (LOL)
8.The Freshmen Classes are always whole. They move together in one giant wave
9.Freshmen eat in expensive places like Orange Brutus, McDo, Jollibee, and the like, while fearing the small canteens not knowing what ever microorganism inhabits these places.
10.Freshmen are quick to buy all the notes and textbooks provided.
Aside from the Top 10 things we noticed about freshies, we also have first week of school lines. These are things we hear from different students when we pass by them:

"Excuse me, aha na ang room TBA?"-Freshie

"Muskwela pa ko diri? Mura man ni ug ambot."-Freshie

"Hala, oiz, kita ka ato niya, wafu siya!"-old student stalking a new one

"Unsa man ni si Mr. ___, Lisod ni siya?"

"Sus, kakapoy ba gud, walay teacher mutungha."

And those are but a few things we hear around the campus.

Once again, I would personally like to welcome all the Feshmen into Cebu Velez College. I tell you, if you are looking forward to be top of the line medical professionals then you've come to the right college. Velez College offers only the best in education and it does not keep with them students only mediocre performance.

Freshmen, watch out. Get ready for something challenging and new.
Fellow Velezians of the higher years; We've survived the past year, and surviving this year we shall do once more.

And also to the faculty that will be handling the massive 10 sections for the Department of Medical Technology (first year only).... well, uhmm, hope you survive too ;)
